"Report" Card

"Ivan has written an interesting book. Believe me, it's going to cause a lot of interesting arguments. And that's the reason I'm telling you to read it....
The one thing this book will do: you will get in a lot of arguments with your friends. They might agree with Ivan. They might disagree with Ivan. All I can tell you is you should read it if you're a college football fan, even if you're a casual one. It's an excellent book.
He has an opinion on every page. You're going to get mad a lot. A lot of times, you're going to be pleased with what he has to say.
The research was excellent. He writes well. He's one of the best college football writers in America. So let me recommend this book again. You're gonna love it."

"Ivan Maisel is more qualified than almost anyone I know to be the arbiter of what is overrated and underrated about anything related to college football. In The Maisel Report, he delivers his opinions with a wonderful sense of humor and a style that is sure to induce arguments that will continue long after `last call.' Throughout the book, his love of college football is always obvious."

-- Verne Lundquist, CBS Sports lead college football commentator

"I don't think anybody has the point of reference from a historical perspective that Ivan possesses. He has the first-hand knowledge. I know college football and I love college football, but the knowledge and perspective in this book made me realize that the things I thought I knew, I really don't know. Whether you're a casual observer or a fanatic, you're going to learn something in The Maisel Report. I was amazed at the research and the time that went into this book."

-- Mel Kiper Jr., ESPN analyst and NFL Draft expert

"Ivan Maisel is already the most important, influential, and intelligent writer on the college football scene today, and this book will further cement that lofty label. Unfortunately, there will be many places in the nation--such as Tuscaloosa, South Bend, and parts of Florida--that Ivan may need to take off his summer vacation list. It is one's fervent hope that most college football fans will see this book for what is--a piercingly honest and long-overdue analysis of the game we so dearly love."

-- From the foreword by Chris Fowler, host of ESPN's College GameDay

"One of the great things about this book that I see is that you're going to have so much fodder for debate, obviously. And you're gonna get your share of letters about 'How could you say this?' about this or that program....That's what's going to make this such a good read. People will sit there and be able to debate this one back and forth, their viewpoints as opposed to your viewpoints....He does a good job. He's a good writer. When you read the book, it's a very entertaining read."
